Hair Transplant
Female Hair Transplantation
There are differences between female hair loss and male hair loss. Due to the physiological structure of male individuals, hair loss occurs locally. On the other hand, in women, this situation is generally seen as widespread. For this reason, female hair loss and male hair loss treatments are determined by looking at different contents. Conditions that require hair transplantation in female hair loss can be listed as follows:
- Hair loss occurring apart from external factors
- Inability to stop hair loss with supplements
- Hair loss due to alopecia
- Permanent hair loss due to external factors
- Lack of hormonal adequacy
In cases where these determinations are made, it becomes a necessity to perform a hair transplant operation.
How is Female Hair Transplantation Performed?
Hair loss in women should be monitored differently than in male patients. The type of operation to be determined according to the visibility of the shedding hair volume can sometimes be the FUE technique and sometimes the DHI technique. Since many women have long hair, shaving is undesirable. Therefore, DHI hair transplantation is more appropriate if possible. However, FUE hair transplantation is also a preferable operation method for successful and risk-free hair transplantation. Both transplantation methods are carried out in accordance with the logic of male hair transplantation.
The Healing Process
Another part as important as the hair transplantation process is the recovery period after transplantation. After the first few complications of wound, encrusting and swelling, it’s time to heal. Being sensitive in this process is very important for the success of hair transplantation. The points to be followed for a successful hair transplant operation can be listed as follows:
- The medicines and recommendations given by the physicians should be strictly followed.
- Pressurized water should not be used on the hair area for the first few weeks and no scrub should be made.
- Avoid blood thinners
- The use of alcohol and tobacco products should be suspended in the first few weeks
- Sports activities should be avoided for the first few weeks.
Shock shedding after hair transplantation is a natural event after the operation. After this shedding, new and healthy hair will start to grow.
What are the Possible Complications of Female Hair Transplantation?
In hair transplant operations applied to women, complications are not different from those applied to men. Most of these low-probability complications can be listed as follows:
- Wound and encrusting
- Redness
- Loss of sensation in the donor area
- Loss of sensation in the donor area
- Swelling
- Infection
- Inflammation
One or more of these complications may occur together, but most of the time, many do not occur. There is no permanent damage in general hair transplant operations.
