TAVI / Non-Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement

One of the latest techniques developed in heart valve surgeries, TAVI, namely Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation, is a version of the valve in which the valve is replaced with the help of a catheter without stopping the heart.

Patients with risky heart reactivation, TAVI is the preferred minimally invasive procedure for valve replacement, closed heart surgery.

How is TAVI performed?

TAVI, also known as non-surgical aortic valve replacement, is performed by intravenous method by entering through the groin. The artificial valve, which is carried through the catheter to the aortic inlet and mounted on a stent, is implanted without the need to remove the existing heart valve and without any incision in the heart.

The treatment Tavi is completed in an average of 1 hour and can be performed under general anesthesia, local anesthesia or sedation. The patient is kept under observation for 1 day and can be discharged the next day.

Advantages of Non-Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement TAVI

  • TAVI, which is performed with the closed method, is performed without opening the thorax, without causing tissue and bone damage.
  • It provides a great advantage in the treatment of heart valves in people where anesthesia is at risk.
  • Since it is done without stopping the heart, it makes valve replacement possible in elderly patients.
  • Valve replacement without incision largely eliminates the risk of heart surgery.
  • The risk of infection and complications is very low.
  • The patient returns to his/her normal life in a short time.
